Failure is a Stepping Stone

In the world of power lifting, bodybuilding, or any of the sort, intense focus and dedication is an absolute requirement.

This is Geo. He’s a competitive power lifter who always strives to be the best at his craft. Geo also happens to be my personal coach during my competition seasons of physique/bodybuilding. In the sport of competitive power lifting, there is no way to make it to the top without continually trying to push yourself past your own limits. Along with proper technique, diet, and training, being mentally focused could make all the difference during preparation. Intense dieting, depleting, and “re-loading” can take major tolls on one’s body. During the times I do lift with Geo, I cringe at the sight of the bone-splitting weight being lifted straight off the ground. “You can’t be afraid to fail”, says Geo. Not every PR (personal record) comes during the first try. Sometimes a failed attempt is what it may take to reach your new PR in a given lift. I think that’s the beauty of the sport, though. You must be self-driven to destroy your past numbers. Speaking from personal experience, nothing feels more rewarding than accomplishing a once failed  lift leaving you at the next objective.

Katie & Jacob Bos

After taking about a year and a half off of photography, I’m finally back to doing what I love. I spent the time off finishing my schooling and obtaining my paramedic license. Katie, the bride featured, was my full-time paramedic partner for approximately the last year. It was nice to be able to be a part of her special day. I had the help of my dear friend Sunshine ( who is emerging into the world of photography. She is the proud new owner of my old faithful 5D Mark II. This was the first wedding I used my new 5D Mark III, and it definitely got the job done. I’m confident these newly weds will remember their special day for years to come!

Ivon & Chris Chavez

The last wedding I photographed (again, late post) was in late July up in the hills of San Jose. These are also some dear friends that attend the same church as me. Jon Rios ( came and shot with me this day. We had a blast hanging out (and working) at this beautiful location in San Jose. It was definitely a hot day, but we obviously survived.

Jennifer & Tone Hernandez

Its been quite a while since I’ve posted any updates here, and I think its time to catch up. This wedding was shot back on July 6th, 2013. I had the honor of photographing two of my best friend’s wedding. I grew up with the bride, Jennifer, so the whole wedding was really a lot of fun being around all my friends for the day. Here are some of my favorites, enjoy!

Casper – Lost (Official Music Video)

Jonathan Rios and I went at it again and put together our newest music video. This one is by Casper, featuring his song “Lost”. This video was extremely fun because we implemented a new piece of equipment for the first time: The Glidecam 4000. We know for sure that we will definitely be utilizing the Glidecam again. It was a learning experience, but I’ll be the first to admit, it made our footage turn out great! Check it out, and subscribe to our brand new YouTube Channel, RoyalKingdomMedia.
